MARY BETH PEIL (Aunt Julia) Most recently seen in Netflix’s ‘Halston’ opposite Ewan McGregor. Prior to that she was seen in a major recurring role in The CW’s ‘Katy Keene’ as well as ‘The Village’ for NBC. Other TV includes ‘The Good Wife’, ‘Law & Order: SVU’, and ‘The Fringe’. Film includes ‘The Song Of Sway Lake’, ‘Here And Now’, ‘Collateral Beauty’, ‘Mirros’, ‘The List’, ‘Flags Of Our Fathers’, ‘Stepford Wives’, and ‘The Odd Couple II’. Will next be seen in the independent feature ‘Phyllis, Silenced’ and Miramax’s ‘The Home’ which will be released in 2024. In addition to her work on screen, Mary Beth is very well-known in the theater world. In 2017, she was nominated for a Tony, Drama Desk, & Outer Critics Award for Anastasia. Additional Broadway credits include Les Liaisons Dangereuses; The Visit; Follies; Women on the Verge…; Sunday in the Park with Geroge; Nine; and the 1985 production of The King and I for which she received her first Tony nomination. ÚNA CLANCY (Aunt Kate) was born and raised in Dublin’s Fair City and is thrilled to live again there through the force of James Joyce’s beautiful story. Una’s Irish Rep credits include The O’Casey Cycle and Lady G (Lady Gregory). With Origin’s 1st Irish Festival she performed in Herself (Mary) and The 8th (Fionnuala). Of Shakespeare, she has played in The Winter’s Tale (Paulina), Romeo and Juliet (Nurse) and Hamlet (Gertrude) and Macbeth (Weird sister) - all with The Drilling Company NYC. Selected T.V./Film credits include ‘Moratorium’, (dir: Kevin Conolly) opposite fellow Irish Rep actor Brian Keane, and ‘Wu-Tang: An American Saga’ (dir: Mario Van Peebles). HEATHER MARTIN BIXLER (Miss Daly) is a classical violinist and Irish fiddler whose playing has been described as “emotionally riveting” and “astonishingly musical and sweet.” She is a graduate of Indiana University, The Juilliard School, and the University of Memphis. Bixler held first violin positions in orchestras in Spain and Mexico and worked as a substitute violinist with The New York Philharmonic as well as other New York Orchestras. Pursuing her interest in studying the effect that music has on the brain, Bixler earned a BA in neuroscience from Columbia University where she was awarded the Jennifer A. Pack Prize for excellence in the study of neuroscience. After graduation, she worked as a research assistant at Columbia’s medical center completing a ground-breaking study on neurodegenerative diseases. Currently, she lives in New York, performing and teaching violin and Irish fiddle.

TERRY DONNELLY (Mrs. Malins) has been a member of the Abbey Theatre, Dublin, and the National Theatre, London. Among very many plays at the Irish Rep, she has been seen in The Tinkers Wedding, Lady G: The Plays and Whisperings of Lady Gregory, The O’Casey Cycle, Riders to the Sea, Transport - The Musical, Crackskull Row, The Yeats Project, Grandchild of Kings, and The Irish and How They Got That Way by Frank McCourt. Regionally, Terry has performed in Dancing at Lughnasa and The Streets of New York. In film and TV, her credits include ‘A Hungry Feeling’ (4 Oaks Prods.), ‘The Silver Tassie’ (BBC), ‘Law and Order’ (NBC), ‘The Crez’ (ITV), ‘Bully Tiny’ (RTE), ‘The Sash’ (RTE), and ‘Kylemore House’ (RTE). Last season, Terry played Madge in Brian Friel’s Philadelphia Here I Come. She has been awarded for sustained excellence in 2019 at the Irish Rep. Terry returns to the character of Mrs. Malins in The Dead, 1904

KAREN KILLEEN (Mary Jane) is thrilled to be making her off-Broadway debut at the Irish Repertory Theatre. A native to Dublin, Karen is a recent graduate of the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale, where she appeared in Uncle Vanya, The Misanthrope, Marys Seacole and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Prior to her time at Yale, she worked on the television series ‘KIN’ for AMC and RTÉ’s ‘Taken Down’. She also played the lead role of Siobhán in Wishful Thinking as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival. Furthermore, Karen co-directed the short film ‘Hold the Line’ which went on to win the BAFTA-qualifying Best Overall Short at Belfast Film Festival, as well as a nomination for Best Emerging Female Director at IndieCork Film Festival. She would like to thank her mam, boyfriend, family/friends, and managers for their support, as well as Ciarán Ó’Reilly and the team at Irish Rep for this wonderful experience.

MICHAEL KUHN (Bartell D’Arcy) recently made his Broadway debut in the revival of Sweeney Todd, where he performed in the ensemble and understudied Adolfo Pirelli. Off Broadway/NYC credits: ¡Figaro! 90210 (Basel) at the Duke on 42nd, and Stonewall (Romano) with NY City Opera at Jazz at Lincoln Center (world premiere). Select regional theatre: Tobias in Sweeney Todd (Pacific Symphony, Opera Omaha, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Virginia Opera, Syracuse Opera), Padre in Man of La Mancha (Central City Opera), Mr. Erlanson in A Little Night Music (Princeton Festival). Michael has performed regionally at opera houses across the US and in France. As a concert soloist, he has appeared at Carnegie Hall (Haydn’s Mariazeller Messe), as well as with the Omaha Symphony (Mendelssohn’s Elijah), Pacific Symphony (Sweeney Todd), Atlantic Symphony (Handel’s Messiah), and more. He is an alumnus of Syracuse University and the New England Conservatory. Dedicated to Bobbi.

AEDÍN MOLONEY (Molly Ivors) is an actress, director, and producer, with a career spanning 3 decades and 2 continents. She is delighted to be performing in her 4th production of The Dead, 1904 with Irish Rep. Her performance of Yes! Reflections of Molly Bloom adapted by herself with Colum McCann from James Joyce’s Ulysses, and premiered by the Rep, was honored by The Outer Critics Circle and The Off-Broadway Alliance. The play was written with original music by her late father, Paddy Moloney (The Chieftains). She originated the role of George Eliot in A Most Dangerous Woman at STNJ, also winning her a Best Actress Award. She is founder and producing artistic director of pioneering company, Fallen Angel Theatre, for which she directed Melissa Gilbert in My Brilliant Divorce. She was honored with The Spirit of the Festival Award from Origin Theatre for her film, ‘Rising’. Her recent film/tv roles include Oliver Hermanus’ ‘The History of Sound’ and ‘The Exorcist’.

JODIE SWEENEY (Lily) recently graduated from University College Dublin with a Masters in Theatre Practice, where she produced, directed and performed in her own short play Hello, can you hear me? I’m cawing… (2023) performed in Smock Alley’s Boys School, Ireland. Jodie has previously trained in theater performance at Inchicore College Dublin graduating in 2020. During her training Jodie had the opportunity to perform in William Shakespeare’s Macbeth (Lady Macbeth) and Twelfth Night (Sir Toby Belch) both directed by Paul Meade. She also performed in Bertolt Brecht’s Happy End directed by Helene Montague and would have performed as Mrs. Proctor in The Crucible in Smock Alley’s Boys School directed by Liam Halligan.

GARY TROY (Freddy Malins) was born and raised in Dublin city. He was last seen at Irish Rep in The Irish And How They Got That Way by Frank McCourt. Gary is chuffed to be a part of this brilliant production of James Joyce’s The Dead, 1904. He also enjoyed a successful Off Broadway run of Himself And Nora at Minetta Lane Theatre NY; the musical love story of Joyce and Nora Barnacle and his wonderful and sometimes problematic life. Off Broadway and Regional credits include: Come Like My Cigarette NY. Cabaret (Emcee) Florida Rep. Les Miserables (Thenardier) Main State Music Theatre and North Shore Music Theater Boston. The Irish Repertory Theatre stages the works of Irish and Irish-American classic and contemporary playwrights, encourages the development of new works focused on the Irish and Irish-American experience, and produces the works of other cultures interpreted through the lens of an Irish sensibility. Irish Rep has celebrated the very best in Irish theatre Off-Broadway for twenty-six years, from the masters such as Brien Friel, Eugene O'Neill, George Bernard Shaw, Dylan Thomas, and Conor McPherson to the new generation of Irish and Irish-American writers who are transforming the stage.

Located in a beautiful turn of the century mansion on Manhattan's Upper East Side, The American Irish Historical Society has been a center of Irish culture and knowledge in continuous operation since 1897. The Society is host to cultural events such as concerts, plays, readings, lectures, exhibitions, and films.

Dot Dot Productions  Created by sisters Jean Hanff Korelitz and Nina Korelitz Matza, Dot Dot Productions was originally formed to bring THE DEAD, 1904 to life in 2016 in New York City. Now in our third year, we are excited to be reviving THE DEAD, 1904 for winter 2018. Dot Dot also has several new theatrical concepts in development. Nina Korelitz Matza is theater producer and Executive Coach. Producing highlights include Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish, directed by Joel Grey. Her coaching practice is focused on helping employees of not-for-profit and small business organizations to maximize personal and organizational impact. She is also the Creator and Producer of the Listen More podcast with Dr. Anne Marie Albano. Nina  holds an MBA from New York University and a BA in Art History and Italian from Connecticut College. She is a former member of the Board of Trustees of Ars Nova Theater company and a founding member of the Advisory Council of The New Victory theater. Known for its dedication to seasonal ingredients, innovative culinary presentations and exceptional service, Great Performances has been a dynamic presence on New York City’s cultural landscape since its 1979 roots as a part-time staffing agency for women in the arts. Today it counts a number of the city's most high-profile cultural institutions as clients, including  Jazz at Lincoln Center, Asia Society Museum,  Brooklyn Academy of Music and Brooklyn Museum.  For the audiences of THE DEAD 1904, Great Performances will prepare an interpretation of the dinner so lyrically described by James Joyce in “The Dead.” It will be a memorable one-of-a-kind meal incorporating ingredients from Great Performances’ organic Katchkie Farm in Kinderhook, NY, where the company has been engaged in sustainable agricultural practices since 2007.

Paul Muldoon (co-adaptor), winner of the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Moy Sand and Gravel, is the author of 15 major collections of poetry, and the former poetry editor of The New Yorker magazine. He holds the Howard G.B. Clark '21 chair in the Humanities at Princeton University.

Jean Hanff Korelitz (co-adaptor, co-producer) is the author of nine novels, including The Sequel, The Latecomer (adaptation coming from Campout Productions/Fifth Season), The Plot (adaptation starring Mahershala Ali coming from Hulu Onyx), Admission (adapted for film as Admission (2013) starring Tina Fey), You Should Have Known (adapted as HBO’s The Undoing, starring Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant and Donald Sutherland).

Ciaran O'Reilly (director) has helmed Irish Rep's productions of Shining City; The Weir (Lucille Lortel and Callaway Award nominations); The Emperor Jones (Callaway Award; O'Neill Credo Award; Drama Desk, Drama League and Lucille Lortel Award nominations); The Hairy Ape (Drama Desk, Drama League and Callaway nominations); Philadelphia, Here I Come! (Drama Desk nomination); the world pre­miere of Banished Children of Eve; as well as the recent productions of Sea Marks, Port Authority, and The Quare Land, among others. As an actor, he has been seen in the Irish Rep productions of Da, Juno and the Paycock, Dancing at Lughnasa, Molly Sweeney, Aristocrats, A Whistle in the Dark, The Shaughraun, and The Irish and How They Got That Way. He also appeared in the Roundabout Theatre Company's production of A Touch of the Poet with Gabriel Byrne at the Abbey Theater in Dublin; and made his Broadway debut in The Corn is Green. He has been honored three times by Irish America Magazine with the Irish America "Top 100 Irish" Award.
